In 2011 my 2 happy pooches were not impressed with their collar choices. For Madison, a Boxer, I wanted something feminine, but strong. For Jack, an Australian Shepherd/GSP Mix, I wanted something to fit his personality, and I just couldn't seem to find anything that really stood out on them. I decided to try my own hand at making something that fit their personalities and soon after The Happy Pooch was established! I started small and it took a while to figure out what materials I was happy with regarding durability, comfort and, of course, style. After almost a decade, and now 3 new happy pooches to collar, I pride myself on picking out jacquard and grosgrain ribbon of quality and uniqueness, so that I, and you, can find the perfect pattern for your dog's personality. Drake, a Black Lab, now sports the "On The Hunt” pattern. Bill, a Labradoodle, favors anything red because he knows he looks good in it, but sometimes I make him wear the skunk pattern collar, well, because he seems to attract them. Sherman, a Labradoodle, prefers the “Squirrel and Nut” pattern. In the fall they ALL wear orange to be safe in our woodsy back-40 here in Maine.
Over time my company has grown and in the summer of 2020 it was time for some help! My sister, Patti, crafter extraordinaire, came on board to help with the making of collars and enhancing our presence on social media. Patti also brings a a new element to the company with her hand-stitched and felted cat toys. Her Labradoodle, Cedar, dons the purple mushrooms on green background when relaxing at home and on walks he prefers the fall leaves on eggplant martingale.
